bring fame and fortune

A simple press release can be more effective than a thousand dollars worth of advertising.

Sending Your Own
All you need to do is start thinking like a reporter. Find something interesting about what you want to promote, and write about it. You will need:
  • A Good Headline. It should attract people's interest and make them want to read the rest of your release.
  • Interesting News. Most news is interesting if you can find the right angle. The way in which you write can also help.
  • Contacts. Knowing where to send your release is the hard part. It is better to address people by name, and they will not be impressed if you send them inappropriate material.

The good news is, you can hire someone to do any or all of the above for you.

Even if you want to write your own press releases, it is a good idea to get a professional to distribute them for you.

Professional press release companies will know exactly where to send your release and how to get it noticed. They all offer writing services to accompany distribution, and being the experts, will probably get better results than you would do on your own.

One of the leaders is XPress Press, who offer a highly targeted email distribution service. The list of "news subscribers" to their service is very impressive, and could get you some big news coverage.

More Press Release Web Sites
The Internet News Bureau will send your release to journalists who have specifically requested news on particular topics. They have many large clients.
IMediaFax will fax your release to a targeted list at a reasonable price.
The following companies offer free press release distribution: The Comitatus Group and PRWeb. I have not tried any of them myself, but expect they would generate at least a small response.
